The Winery

The AALTO project was founded in February 1999, in the prestigious winemaking region of Ribera del Duero (Spain). The foundational aim of Mariano Garcia and Javier Zaccagnini in AALTO was to make a wine that shows a different personality, of high quality and being a faithful reflection of distinct locations, blending them at the end of the aging process to obtain balance and complexity.

A few years later, in 2006, Masaveu and Nozaleda families joined AALTO, both owners of wineries in other wine regions of Spain, providing experience and stability to the project, which meant the consolidation of the winery to this day.

At Aalto we make two wines:

AALTO, 100% Tempranillo, is the result of an extremely meticulous selection of grapes and respectful treatment of the raw material. It is a high-quality wine that is offered every year, except in those vintages in which the ripening conditions we demand are not achieved.

Aalto PS

AALTO PS, 100% Tempranillo, our exceptional wine. This wine is the result of a selection of grapes grown on small plots aged between 60 and 90 years old.

The production of AALTO is approximately 250,000 bottles, although it may vary from one year to another depending on the harvest. The production of AALTO PS does not exceed 20,000 bottles.

After 20 years of activity, AALTO Bodegas y Viñedos has become a benchmark in the Ribera del Duero. Our wine AALTO PS has been chosen several times by vote the Best Red Wine of Spain and the winery has been chosen in Paris as one of the 100 best wineries in the world in the book published by the prestigious critics Michel Bettane and Thiery Dessauve.
